Z&W feels like a hidden gem of a restaurant in the Kalamazoo area. My friend who lives nearby hasn’t heard about it before, and I just heard about it online. I’m glad me and my friends had lunch here; the food is fantastic. We shared several dishes from the authentic Szechuan menu, and I also had a cup of the hot and sour soup. The soup was a step up from a lot of other Chinese restaurants, but the Szechuan dishes really popped out to me. We shared the chilled spicy pork belly, the mapo tofu, and the cumin lamb. The food was delicious and spicy, although not too spicy. The Szechuan peppercorn really came out in these dishes, and we all enjoyed the meal. They don’t skimp on the portions either, so the meal filled us up at a good price. I’ll definitely visit here again if I have the chance. It’s a great Chinese restaurant.

Z&W Chinese Cuisine is hands down my favorite restaurant—not just in Kalamazoo, but honestly in the world. This place is my hidden treasure. The kind of spot you almost don’t want to talk about because you’re scared it’ll get too popular and crowded. For a long time, I didn’t even want to write a review because I wanted to keep it to myself. That’s how much I love it. The food is consistently amazing, comforting, and made with care. Every time I eat here, it feels like a guaranteed good meal—no stress, no disappointment, just happiness. I genuinely can’t imagine living without this restaurant. It’s one of those places that becomes part of your routine, your comfort, your life. If you’re lucky enough to find this place, treat it with respect. This isn’t just food—it’s a gem. My partner and I LOVE Sichuan food and this is some of the best we have tried, better than restaurants in NYC and Chicago. We were passing through Kalamazoo and decided to stop at this small, unassuming, yet cozy and immaculately clean restaurant in a strip mall. And wow, I am so happy we stopped! The huge, steaming, perfectly spiced bowls warmed us from the inside out on that snowy evening. I especially loved the Sichuan spiced chicken dish. It tingled and tantalized the tastebuds in the most delightful way and not a bite was wasted. I wish I could remember our servers name - she was so attentive, helpful, and enthusiastic about the wonderful food on the menu. We will make a point of returning if we are ever in the area and I will dream about the heavenly food until then.

I was greeted promptly with a smile as soon as I walked in, by Morgan, and was told to seat myself. The restaurant was very clean. Morgan, my server, went over the menu items in detail, explaining the dishes. I ordered the orange chicken, white rice, hot and sour soup and an eggroll. The orange chicken was very good and well seasoned, and a large serving. The chicken was nice size pieces and the sauce was delicious. I really enjoyed the hot and sour soup and also the eggroll. The price was really reasonable for the amount of food you get. Morgan was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I would highly recommend Z&W if you are looking for quality Chinese food at a great price!

Authentic Sichuan food alongside your American Chinese favorites. I ordered mapo tofu and zhajiang noodles. They came out great. The tofu was perfectly spicy and numbing. I prefer a darker sauce with the noodles, but it was good what they served too. The fish was surprisingly well stir-fried. Light coating, and tender. The staff treated us very well and the dessert of red bean sesame bites was homemade and fresh out of the fryer.
